Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have cracked an Indian Mujahideen module with the arrest of three persons, who were suspected to be involved in the low-intensity blasts in Pune two months ago.
Delhi Police on Monday arrested one of National Investigation Agency's (NIA) most wanted terrorists Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam and his two associates who were part of an Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-sponsored module 'disguised' as an Islamic State (IS) module and seized incriminating material, including those suspected to be used in an improvised explosive device (IED) fabrication, officials said.
In a major crackdown on Friday, the police had taken into custody Mohammed Ali, Jawed Ali, Naushad and Ahmad Bawa. The police, apart from recovering inflammatory material from these persons, also found them to be in possession of maps of major cities such as Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Mangalore.
"Chandrashekhar, who is suspected to be a key member of the terror module involved in the blast in which three persons were killed, was arrested on Friday from Shajapur," ATS sources said in Jaipur on Saturday.
"It has come to our notice that terrorists meet their associates on way to court hearings. A gazetted officer should accompany them and their movements must be videographed," the DGP said. The move follows intelligence inputs of indoctrination and action coordinated by militants in the state's penitentiaries, a senior member of Anti-Terrorist Squad said.
A new organisation called the Indian Mujahideen claimed responsibility thus trying to divert the investigators. However, investigations revealed that it was the HuJI, which had carried out this attack in retaliation to the cases that were being tried against their men in the courts of the state.
